This is an issue that can be dealt with in many ways which is why I have proposed some action plans to help with this issue. These action plans include extending out a welcoming hand into the job rather than just “opening the door” by doing this it makes people feel more comfortable and welcomed into the environment. The second action plan is not just hiring the minimum number of women of colour to seem inclusive but to actively hire people of different backgrounds. The third action plan is to hire a team discrimination leader where people can either go to report any acts of discrimination or just a safe person to talk to about an issue. This person would also make action plans of their own in the workplace in order to properly deal with any discrimination. Lastly my final proposed action plan which may seem the easiest but can be difficult is “if you see something, say something” by doing this you are calling people out on what they say, however this can still be done in a respectful way. Instead of getting mad and disrespecting someone it would be more beneficial to instead correct them on the right thing to say. These four things can be implemented into work culture and daily life as a way to make women of colour feel more included.
